What differentiates your products?

Our products are carefully handcrafted in our workshop by individual craftspeople. Each wood item is made from genuine hardwood using traditional joinery. You won’t find any particle board or veneers. We use high quality, soft-close hinge and drawer hardware. We creatively finish metals and incorporate them into our designs. Our concrete is hand cast making each piece one-of-a-kind. We truly care about the quality and timelessness inherent in a well-made piece of furniture that develops character with use and lasts for generations.

What type of concrete do you use?

We use glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC), containing a proprietary blend of sand, cement, water, glass fiber and other additives. GFRC is stronger, more flexible and lighter in weight than traditionally cast concrete. Our casting and finishing techniques provide an ultra-smooth finish, virtually clear of holes and cracks typically associated with wet cast concrete.

How do your concrete countertops differ from granite or other solid surface products?

Granite and other solid surface products are templated, cut and edge-polished to meet your project specifications. Our concrete countertops are uniquely handcrafted in a multi-phase process. We template, build custom forms, prepare the mix, cast, demold, grind, grout, sand, finish and seal to meet our exacting standards. Concrete counters are not constrained to the standard thicknesses of solid surfaces (3/4” and 1-1/4”) and can accomplish longer spans without seams – typically with less waste. They are comparable in strength, weigh somewhat less, and cost about the same as high-end granite or other solid surfaces.

Can I use any type of sink with your concrete tops?

Yes. We can integrate a concrete sink into our concrete counters (we recommend this more for bathrooms than kitchens), or template for undermount, curb, vessel and farmhouse style sinks. We use factory templates for customer-provided sinks.

How do I incorporate concrete into existing cabinetry?

We can incorporate concrete into your kitchen or bath by encasing your new or existing cabinetry with concrete tops, sides, and/or back panels. For example, you can configure an island made of standard cabinet components and add side and/or back panels with a concrete top for a highly customized look.

How far can you cantilever a concrete top?

We can achieve impressive cantilevers by embedding fiberglass rebar into the fiber reinforced mix. Spans are constrained by length, concrete thickness and intended use.

How do I install a floating sink?

Floating sinks require brackets (included) bolted to reinforced studs within the wall cavity or a structural support designed for the sink. For remodel situations, this may involve removing and replacing/repairing drywall or other wall surface. We provide installation instructions and are available to advise your installer.

Does concrete stain, scratch or crack?

The simple answer is yes. However, to resist scratching and staining we use industry-leading, food-safe sealer that has unsurpassed resistance to oils, acids, dirt, heat, and virtually any substance typically used in a kitchen or bath. With appropriate use and care, your concrete surfaces should be highly resilient and last for years. The main thing to avoid is breaching the sealer, so no cutting (your knives will appreciate this), dragging sharp objects, or putting extremely hot pans directly on the surface.  Immediately wipe spills of major staining culprits (e.g., wine, mustard, turmeric, highly acidic substances). And, avoid dropping hard, heavy objects on your concrete to prevent cracking or chipping. By its nature, concrete can develop hairline cracks and may have small holes in the surface. Over time, your concrete will develop a patina resulting from normal use. We think this makes it more beautiful and more uniquely yours.

What types of finishes and sealers do you use?

We use high performance, low VOC, water-based sealers on our wood and concrete. Our preference is to stain mahogany to enrich its color and grain, but feel maple and walnut are beautifully enhanced by the sealer alone.

For metal, we offer a variety of finish options, including raw, browned, blackened, or powder coated.  We seal using a penetrating oil or metal lacquer depending on the desired sheen and intended use.

Of course, we can customize any finish to meet your project requirements.

How does one clean concrete?

We recommend mild soap and water for cleaning. Avoid using abrasive, acidic, or ammonia cleansers as well as scrubbing pads that can compromise the sealer. Magic eraser sponges are effective for removing small stubborn spots, but to maintain the sealer avoid “over erasing”. Bleach may be used sparingly to remove stubborn stains. We also recommend spray-on natural bees wax to further protect the surface from scratching and staining.

What concrete colors are available?

Our standard concrete colors are gray, black and white. We can provide color samples for a nominal fee or create virtually any custom color for an additional charge.

What wood species do you use?

Our standard woods are American black walnut, Sapele ribbon mahogany, and hard maple. We like them for their density, strength and sustainability, but even more so for their beautiful color and grain patterns. We can source the wood of your choice for any custom project.

Do you use engineered wood products?

We carefully select rough-sawn hardwood for quality and grain, then machine and glue each piece to form panels, which in turn become solid vanity boxes, doors, drawers, dividers, and shelves. All exposed surfaces are 100% solid hardwood. For non-exposed surfaces, such as drawer bottoms and cabinet backs, we use Select-grade hardwood ply.

We do use reclaimed glulams for some of our pieces and if specified, use engineered wood for custom projects.

How do I order and pay?

Please call us at (509) 888-2955 or submit a Product Inquiry form.  Once we gather more information about your project we’ll provide a proposal with project specifics, terms, lead time and shipping details.  We require a signed order contract and 50% non-refundable deposit before commencing work. The remaining charges, including final delivery fees are collected prior to shipment.

What are my delivery options?
